Walk For Skin 2008
The walks are between 3 - 6 miles long, making them suitable for the whole family to join in. This year there will be added attractions at the Walk for Skin Village BSF: Walk For Skin 2008 Sutton Park was the venue for the Birmingham Walk for skin this year, which had a good turn out, but still we need your attention. Skin conditions affect 8 million people in the UK, from spots and chemical burns or accidents to cancers, dermatology needs your support. Not to mention the threat of Melanoma overtaking Breast Cancer as a major cancer in women under 30. Melanoma skin cancer, has little to do with the sun and more to do with the colour cells of your skin going a bit mental. Do you know how to self exam your skin and did you know that melanoma is dangerous because it grows downwards into the skin from a mole towards the blood stream? Get to know the ABC of melanoma and check your skin regularly. Greater public awareness of the signs of skin cancer can greatly help in the fight to get melanoma's detected at less than 2mm thickness, your eyes can save lives, if not your own then someone you know, every millimeter counts so get mole hunting! Brummie Lakes
There are a fair few water pools and lakes dotted in and around Birmingham, hidden away and kinda linked by a network of canals, streams and brooks. It's almost as if we have our own lake district right here, so my pledge is to visit as many lakes as possible and geotag them! One Bike, One Brummie, One Love. The list so far: * Forge Mill Lake * Swan pool * Edgbaston Reservoir * Great Barr Lakes * Perry Reservoir * Witton Lakes * Keepers Pool * Longmoor Pool Coming in 2008: Yam Yam Lakes
Spring Snow
A snow storm tracked from Canada along a jet stream which took it north before decending south right over the UK. The ground was largely wet and it's a miracle the actually stuck. We do need to start explaining these things with things like the jet stream and storms exiting Canada or we'll all end up blaming global warming for it and that is not the only reason these things happen.
Swan Centre Flickrmeet
We were given special access to the roof of a building above the Swan Island in Birmingham and encouraged to snap photos of the 60's style Swan Shopping Centre before it is demolished to make way for a Tesco. There were some stunning scenes from the rooftops and some interesting experiences in climbing vertical ladders to radio masts.

SDM Studio
College mate and friend of many years, Andy Steele, has set up a portrait studio in West Bromwhich, these are some shots I took for his website.
Snow - 2007
Long time coming, and it looked as if it might never happen this winter which has been quite tropical. Surpassing even the falls of 2000, in some places in the midlands it has been the heaviest snow since 1982. Just when we thought we had escaped travel nightmares, the snow returned on the afternoon of 9th Feb to cause gridlock and hilly roads to be impassable.
London
Over six years of going to london on a regular basis, some great memories and some great snaps!
Walsall Illuminations
Photos from 2005 originally posted: leejordan.org.uk/home, set updated to show 2006 photos too! As early as 1875, candles in glass jars were being used to illuminate the centre green at the Arboretum. Making the most of the natural features in the park has always been a theme of the illuminations, and in 1892 fairy lamps lit a grand floral display. Neither the energy crisis of 1975 nor last year’s fuel protests were enough to stop the show from going ahead.
Communications Technology
The Sutton Coldfield transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility located just north of Sutton Coldfield, in Birmingham, England. On December 17, 1949, it became the first television transmitter to broadcast outside London and the Home Counties, bringing BBC Television to viewers outside of the south-east of England for the first time.
Flickrmeet - Stourbridge
Aye up, second Blackcountry Flickrmeet, we could be on a roll here! Again an impressive turn out for a 3 mile stroll around the canals and glass quarter of Stourbridge, ending up at the redhouse glass cone.
25 years of Jive Records
Held at Walsall library on Lichfield street until February 2007 is a nostalgic look back at the times of Steve Jenkins. who has connections with the small black country town of Walsall. Steve had a record label called Jive and partnered with Pete Waterman working alongside and with artists such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and of course Easyworld of Eastbourne in the UK. Jive saddly folded not so long ago. The exhibition is now open and runs until early next year.
Brummie - Moonstones
The Moonstones are a set of eight carved memorials to various members of the Lunar Society, which met in the now delerict Great Barr Hall. Made in 1998, they can be viewed in the grounds of the Asda supermarket in Queslett, Great Barr. The stones also each have a phase of the moon carved on them, with Watt's being the full moon. The Lunar Society were a think tank of prominent industrialists, natural philosophers and intellectuals. The society's name came from their practice of scheduling their meetings at the time of the full moon. Since there was no street lighting See and you thought you had to go all the way to stonehenge to see a decent rock group!
Imogen Heap 2006
Photos from March playing to a small audience in Birmingham and from October, playing to a huge crowd on a bigger stage. Taken at the Birmingham Carling Academy. Oh and Immi is a flickr-er too over at this link
New Years
Photos taken from the highest point in my locality, Barr Beacon on the border between Bham and Walsall about 7 miles out of Bham City Centre.
Urban Oasis
Nope it's not a spaceship, nor is it a trendy christmas tree. It's a self sustaining urban oasis. The oasis sustains a set of trees with a clever onboard computer which drip feeds water through to them. The renewable energy powers an impressive light show as well as offering entertainment and information via an LCD screen loacted in each pod. Visitors can sit inside a pod and retreat from the urban envrionment. The Urban Oasis is loacted in the office square at Brindley Place in Birmingham.
Bonfire Night - Pype Hayes
The biggest and most popular fireworks display in Birmingham attracts over 30,000 people every year. Pype Hayes Park in Erdington, is a major city park of over 100 acres. It contains a fishing pool, bowling green and both hard and grass tennis courts. The park contains a number of ornamental gardens, with many bedding areas.
Birmingham - Fan Park
Thank you to the Fan Park for giving us some wonderful memories of the first half of the World Cup 2006.
Bham Gridlock
These photos are to prove the roads were not gritted, we had to scrape away the ice with garden tools to keep things moving on our stretch of road and this is a main road not a side street. Whatever the council says and however many Teflon shoulders they have the photos speak for themselves. The main roads around here were not gritted after lunchtime which is when it became obvious we were gonna have a problem. Salt bins lay empty and we the residents did everything possible to keep the main road moving, including scraping ice from a hilly section the main Kingstanding road with garden tools!! A councilor is blaming drivers for this, but I predicted this on Thursday, at lunchtime on Friday there were no messages going out warning what may occur and everyone was caught thinking that either the worst was over or people were over reacting by closing schools etc.
Birmingham - Broadway Plaza
Broadway plaza in Ladywood, Birmingham is an excellent place to go to chill out. Snaps here include photos of myself, my sister and my buddy, who's also named Lee!
Bullring Reconstruction (2002/3)
I was lucky enough to get a guided tour of the Bullring as it was being redeveloped. Amazingly I can still recall what the area used to be like, how vast the transormation was and how many times my darn bus stop had to move in the 1990's, early 2000's!!
Lugradio Live 2006
LUGRadio Live is an annual event driven by, and for the Open Source community. The event includes a range of speakers, exhibitors and other attractions, all housed within a unique event with a unique atmosphere.
Summer Sundae 2006
Highlights: The indoor stage, japanese noodles, Sophie Solmon's highly fun violin set to rival even the best Vanesa Mae show, hard to explain, but it's kind of like Russian folk music on drugs. Captain, Steven Fretwell calling us brave soliders for enduring the rain, the bum sheet! Kudos to the Musician stage, it was just so cool and chilled out, had that kind of living room, in a tent, in a feild, feel. The endless examples of bizzare and whacky wellington boot designs on offer from the crowd. £4 a day car parking. Having a music festival on a hill, because it's genius!
Worcester
I took a trip to Worcester, to the Marrs Bar to see Julia Harris play live. While I was there I took the oportunity to explore the city centre and these are some of the photos I took on that day
@media 2006

Temple Church
Recently the Da Vinci Code has caught my imagination, the film is much better than the book, IMHO so while I'm in London for @media2006, why not join the masses of people flocking to the Church?
