If ever there were a local band who are worthy of your listening time it’s Rogue States, a very likable band based locally and giging in and around Birmingham and London. Melodic indie tunes such as Kings of The Ghost Town Mile and Lights mix with the atmospheric ventures of Surrender and the hauntingly beautiful Faultline on their debut release “Lights EP”. Live they are just out of this world!
Some have drawn likeness with early U2, while others have gone for Coldplay and Snow Patrol, everyone who hears these local boys with big ideas though can agree on one thing, they are awesome and have mastered the technical as well as the sublime in songwriting and performance and deliver quite a tune! For the EP, the lads rounded up some fans to form a choir for the backing vocals of the athemic track “Kings of The Ghost Town Mile”. Each member on the recording got a mention on the inlay under the CD on the Lights EP!

This blog post is actually, an outpouring of my frustration of not being able to see them live tonight, you see, my car broke down this evening as I was just about to set out to their last gig of the year and although I can’t be there in person, I’m writing this entry to let you know of a very special local band. The Lights EP can be brought from the band’s website at www.roguestates.net, where you’ll be able to find out more details and stay informed of live gigs in 2010!
