Stay moleaware, it's as easy as ABC
As much as it pains me to say this, the site is closing down for a short while. The site is very much something I run in my spare time and recently my time has been very limited.
The site will be availible at the following address until November 6th 2007: www.moleaware.org/index2.php
I very much believe that if we focus some resources on detecting very serious forms of skin cancer and get them treated earlier than we currently do, we can start to turn the tide against what can only be described as an epidemic of cases of serious melanoma skin cancers in young people
It really is as easy as ABC
Slapping on the sunscreen and hoping for the best is fine, but what if any kind of protection doesn't work? You then need to be able to know what skin cancer looks like to detect it. Malignant Melanoma takes decades to evolve into a visible problem, but there are key signs to look for within existing moles, I urge the entire medical profession to seriously consider skin cancer screening as a weapon against Melanoma and encourage the media to talk about the ABC of melanoma, we really need your help to prevent late diagnosis, melanoma is not about the sun it's about skin. If a mole changes get it checkd out, whatever the change is, and if you need a second opinion, seek it.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has contributed to the moleaware site, without you guys it wouldn't have worked, we have proved that there is not only a need to take this seriously, but that people are willing to listen if they aren't told the same old story about the sun.
