Hurricane Maria and Iceland?

Friday, September 9th, 2005

With continued interest in recent high scoring solar activity, I read from urbansurvival.com that they are calling a close call for Iceland with ….. a hurricane. Seems that Maria is increasingly bending that way at the moment, hopefully cold water will force it to weaken, but with that extra energy from the sun, their guess is as good as anyone elses. I have no idea on this, perhaps it could harmlessly hit the Artic circle, but could that chance of some stormy weather affect the UK slighly? Middle of the month we should know!

Check this image if anyone is in doubt, this image sums it all up, gets even more interesting when you see that nate is following a similar shape and track.

Maria means “bitter” in Hebrew, just throwing that one in as an interest point.

“Ophelia Becomes New Atlantic Hurricane”: on the other hand Ophelia is nudging closer to Floria. Something bizzare is happening, not only did some of these storms stall but one may swing round near Iceland as a troppical depression at best.

Glup, which isn’t that far geographically speaking from erm the UK at least Scotland. I’m certainly hoping that the sun is now done with her flares, if not the world maybe in for some rough days as that sunspot takes aim. Earthquakes are prone to magnetic shifts.

Tornado hits northeastern Spain

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

As I type this another X Class flare has come from sunspot region 789/808.

In the wake of the extremely large solar flare yesterday, bearing in mind this wasn’t even earth directed, a tornado touches down in North Eastern Spain. I know what I’m thinking, I should give it a rest .. . Noooo! how interesting is the Sun at the moment? One of the largest flares of Cycle 23, I saw it happen almost live through the web, although for some reason :

Soho is still in bakeout mode, makes you wonder if NASA are trying to hide something about Cycle 23 not being in a normal, nice and predictable period of solar activity. Our star is having one hell of a mood swing! This is gonna be an interesting month with 2 X Class flares and M Classes already fired off within only the past 24 hours.

Watch for extreme or strange weather as well as power outages and strange events.

“The tornado, which was on the ground for 10 minutes, had winds estimated at more than 100 kph (60 mph).” Source

Massive Solar Flare

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

F**kin Jesus Christ : Mega Flare X13+ from 798 …. not long ago! This is serious stuff.

“KATRINA COMMUNICATIONS MAY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED”

With Tropical Depression 16 stalled off the coast of Florida just being named Ophelia, with Tropical Storm Nate out there and Tropical Depression Maria weakning (as Katrina did), I really am thinking of the possibility of Katrina being the opening act, fricken hell if an X Class flare hits the Earth with those kinds of storms stalled or in 1st gear right now, jesus christ you don’t wanna know as for freak weather around the world, watch this space.

“Significant solar eruptions are possible in the coming days. “This flare, the fourth largest in the last 15 years, erupted just as the … sunspot cluster was rotating onto the visible disk of the sun,’ said Larry Combs, solar forecaster at the center. The flare has affected some high-frequency communications on the sunlit side of Earth, NOAA reported.” Source

I really hate that sunspot region, although not Earth directed yet and still hidden on the very edge of the back of the sun a very nasty solar flare has just been released, in spite of this being a solar minimum. That region might have caused the freak tornado in Birmingham and has been cycling the sun in roughly 20 day periods for a couple of months, waxing and waning, it released an X Class while I was on holiday, but nowhere near X13, highest released so far could have been an X45 during the Halloween storms of 2003.

Proposed: Tan Ban on outdoor workers

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

The artilce is here

We know about the dangers of the sun, we are still too blind to the after effects of the sun, untill that changes people will die, come on Europe, top the Software Patent rejection, do this for us! Focus on Intermittent exposure, sun bathers or people always in the sun don’t die from the sun.

In all seriousness I hope this gets passed, although I’m in two minds because chronic and ridiculous over exposure to the sun will not kill you, which is why I hate saftey advice to sun bathers. Yeah Basel Cell is still skin cancer but it’s a whole lot better than Melanoma skin cancer, which is the worst type of skin cancer you can get. Intermitent exposure should be considered more important in helping reduce death by sun.

“Bristish builders could be forced to cover their reddened torsos if a proposed European directive aimed at protecting workers from exposure to sunlight is passed this week”

Ho hum. Can we extend this to truck drivers or long distance drivers?

“Employers have warned that such a “tan ban” could oblige them to issue sun lotion or baseball caps to builders and others who work outside, or risk possible lawsuits if they contract skin cancers or other conditions related to exposure to sunlight.”

Here here, put health before profit you misserble gits!

“Liz Lynne, a Liberal Democrat MEP and fellow critic, agreed. “It is no business of the EU to decide whether a worker can be bare-chested or wear shorts,” she said”

Whoever said the LibDems were a force for good can now eat their words. I didn’t get a great repsone from her on Software Patents and this is another example of people “not getting it”.

White Flowers

Monday, September 5th, 2005

January, start of the year. I present A few sentences, snapshots of what I have read since the start of the year from the web bot project, keeping it and many other things in the back of my mind. There are blockquotes from the Web Bot reports as seen on urbansurvival.com, behind this excerpt, click the title of this post to see them … I really hope you read them.

“we nonetheless note that the [white flowers] contain, ’spinning’ and ‘rotating’ as primary attributes”, “courage when faced with rising waters’ sort of emotional ’stiffening’ that is coming through”, “here are some rising level of indicators suggesting that our ‘10 years worth of hurricanes’ will start the season early, and will be led by a surprising/shocking/attention gathering] (lightning) storm”, “We also need to note that within the Terra entity, the ’sun’ sub set is a very large area which goes to the idea of ’sun refugees”.

This has been gathering from the start of the year, initially I was too freaked out to even post properly about it, because I have been into this for a while now, and then it happened, months of tid bits playing out on the screens. We need to focus on how to live with such events.

At first it sounds crazy, but these guys talked of the Tunsami before it hit, Earthquake storms and Katrina, previous to that it was the 50million blackedout people, left without power. It’s realy interesting stuff, when added to the Sun Earth connection, you’ll never end with this subject.

Glitch forces Mars probe shut-off

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

Just picked this up from BBC News about a glitch to hit the Mars Orbiter, around the timeframe it speaks of there was a few M-Class solar flares an X-Class Flare fired off. Solar flares can scramble spacecrafts technology as they orbit outside of protective magnetic feilds. Space walkers are also at increased radation effects of the Sun and that was certainly a risk that was weighed up when Discovery was orbiting Earth amid an X-Class flare. Today SOHO remains in CCD BakeOut mode, and has shutdown some of its cameras to prevent damage to the Charged Coupling Devices that capture light.

“On 30 July, the main onboard processing computer unexpectedly switched to its back-up computer. Then, on 26 August, the back-up computer switched back to the primary computer, which had been re-booted in the meantime.” Source

Welsh Mountain Zoo Blackout

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

Just weeks after I myself visited the Welsh Mountain Zoo, it has this week been hit by a 2 hour power outage. I’m fairly convinced that GIC (Geomagnetically Induced Currents) caused by how the Sun interacts with the Earth is a major thing to watch out for in the month of August, and leads to such things as …… traffic light outages, of which there have been a few more outage or bulb blown events this past week.

Zoo director Chris Jackson said : “It’s not the first time this has happened in August, and when you have so many people arriving in a peak holiday week it can cause major disruption.” Source

You can see more photos from that trip in my photos section, navigatable from the top site links.

Katrina : Human cost

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Even though I have been following extreme weather for the past few weeks and noting the impact of geomagnetic storms, I’m shocked as to the amount of destruction Katrina brought to the point where I couldn’t watch the news. Katrina whipped up to Cat5 in a matter of hours just days after the solar flares and related space storms.

“In New Orleans, water began rising in the streets Tuesday morning, swamping an estimated 80 percent of the city and prompting the evacuation of hotels and hospitals. The water was also rising perilously inside New Orleans’ Superdome, and Blanco said the tens of thousands of people now huddled there and other shelters would have to be evacuated as well.” Source

And the quotes coming from people on the ground means that this is gonna be one of the worst weather events of the year.

Even so :

“Because hurricanes form over warm ocean water, it is easy to assume that the recent rise in their number and ferocity is the result of global warming.

But that is not the case, scientists say. Instead, the severity of hurricane seasons changes with Atlantic Ocean temperatures in cycles that take several decades. The recent onslaught “is very much natural,” Source

Freak Tornado hits Finland and Oil $70

Monday, August 29th, 2005

Katrina slams into oil price as it is branded one of the most powerful storms to hit the US, president Bush has already declared Emergency, ahead of schedule it looks to be a bad one. Those who are sitting out the storm in New Orleans are gathered in one place known as the Superdome, which has already been damaged. A freak Tornado wrecks Finnish Masters in Europe

Katrina Becomes Kat5

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Hurricane Katrina, the 11th (!!!) storm of the Atlantic hurricane season has become a category 5 storm as many forecast it would die down, it intensifies right on course after 3 major hits from the sun. As Katrina cuts oil output in the Gulf of Mexico and swings towards New Orleans. Now already we have people jumping on the global warming bandwagon, proclaiming this (normal event) evidence of (extraordinary and) unstoppable Climate Change .. I would agree so far as to say that to stop climate change would be a real calamity, to even think we can stop something (we didn’t start) is a real leap of imagination, if we can think we can stop climate change then we should be able to consider something as obivious as the Sun-Earth Connection.
