Sigur Ros

On Monday I headed down the A41, back to a second home of mine, the Academy. Sigur Ros were in town, I couldn’t miss this one for anything at all. I got to the front of the balcony after being quite a way back in the queue, the view was stunning and the night was enchanting.

The queues for this gig were immense, have not seen it that full in a while, this was on Zuton proportion and beyond

Support was given by four women who form part of the main Sigur Ros band, known as Ammamina they played various string instruments and glockenspiels. Music that you’d play to a child to aid in sleeping.

A curtain was drawn accross the stage and was used to in the intro and outro to the Sigur Ros set. The lighting casting shadows of the band onto the curtain, the set started with a powerful track that is their current single.

The lighting as seen here matched the mood, each thin beam of light was shone on to a member of the crowd. Click the photo for a close up of the stage.

The set was amazing, the band going from being really quiet and cute building up the sound to an awsome level and breaking it back down again. There was a stunning encore a bow from the band members as the curtain drew back to hide the ID of the roadies.

    i saw sigur Ros in NY. they opened for bjork. Today for the first time, i am listening to Ammamina. amazing!
