The Christmas light switch on always signals that it’s not gonna be too long before it’s all over for another year, oh and it also starts the alarm bells ringing ….. must buy presents! As ever clicking the photo will bring up either a more detailed close up or just a bigger presentation of that photo.
Firstly what a fantastic shot, look at those angles, the dot above the sign is the Moon, Mars is lurking behind one of the R’s
This is the view from lower Bull Street up towards the Bullring. It’s a trendy thing, they don’t call it Christmas, we do but the city shopping centres like to call it Winterfest, the Hustler sign brings down the tone don’t ya think?
The pavilions has had a remake, feeling the pinch from the neighbouring bullring.
The perpetual wheel keeps spinning, this shot from last year would you believe. Even the VIP section goes round empty.
And finally in Victoria Square the wheels are in motion in terms of bringing the Christmas markets to town, this a stunning shot of the council house. St Philips Catherdral however is missing any form of decorative lighting as is much of the financial district, oh and Snow Hill Stations frontage now seems massive and bright now it has been redone..
I highly recomend comming to the Christmas Markets in Birmingham, they begin this Thursday coming, offering probably the only tradiational slice of Christmas going around these parts, Christmas Trees for example aren’t meant to look like metalic palm trees, but in the Bullring that’s what you’ll find. As ever it’s gonna be a samey kind of Christmas in town.

I come from Birmingham and am returning there this weekend, full of nostalgia for evenings wandering around the German Christmas Market with a hot cup of irish coffee in my hand. These photographs have doubled my excitement — thank you, and they are really quite good.
Like the photos, they almost make Birmingham look pretty
I think that the photographs are lovely, and CHRISTMASSY, not some mealy-mouthed winterfest. Bah! Humbug to the PC-ERS!
