BrumCasts : almost live from a bus

Brum could very well be the place to produce podcasts as David Gregory meets two Birmingham based, BusCasters, almost live from Route 12, showing a local push on a very national mission, the BBC are really exploring these here podcast things people are yapping about!

Dubber and Spoons Take the Bus is a podcast created by Andrew Dubber and James Debenham. They actually refer to it as a buscast. It came about because Andrew, who lectures on New Media at the University of Central England needed content for a podcast experiment. Source

I’m just wondering, with all the pressure to pursuade people against the MP3 format in favour of something that can be controlled such as WMA, is “AudioBlogging” gonna save the MP3 format and if it can’t and if MP3’s die tommorrow can podcasting be the killer app of the Open Source OGG format in terms of automatic distribution of audio content? Very interesting!

I’m still hoping that this can move into the geospace, whereby audio files can be tagged by location and when you pass by that location a suitible device could alert you of local podcasters. As Bill Tompson said this week, the dots are there, we just need to join them up!
