Oil hits $66.55

Petrol in my area hits 91.9p, which is quite cheap, considering 1.15p is being paid elsewhere. Is this a sign of peak oil and can the govt further hold off tax increases and perhaps offset the rises with tax cuts?Saudis are moving thier investments away from the dollar, a wise move me thinks.

Current world events are masking the fact that supply just cannot keep up with demand (85m barrels a day), this is what the term Peak Oil refers to. Anyway the worry about oil on the markets is huge, the theroy is you spend more, because everything costs more, you save less and what you do save and put away in currency terms is being devalued by rate cuts. I seriously doubt that global warming will go away when the oil runs dry, but that is perhaps another debate entirly, as is resource wars shifting towards water.

How high will it go before it hurts and can we absorb and put up with £1.50 a litre or will govt intervene to prevent fuel poverty? Why should nuclear power be the right of the west? Again another debate entirly, but tension over iRan could lead us into the next war. So there we have it these sky high hikes in pump prices should be a warning to “vow to get off this sauce”, and that includes public transport too! LGP is about 50% cheaper, solar power is free … as they say go figure!
