Windows : rm “Longhorn” mkdir “Vista”

This passed under the news radar :
Longhorn is delayed and renamed Vista

“The software, until now known by its code name Longhorn, is due for release towards the end of 2006, half a decade after the launch of Windows XP. To hit the deadline Microsoft has already taken out a number of features it had promised for the system.”

And what’s the best way for Open Source to gain an advantage on the desktop? Easy to install software, industry strength and microsoft friendly software needs to be ported to native Linux code, plus hardware makers need to dabble in Open Source, otherwise Linux will fail to gain useage on the desktop, and it will never be the year for the Linux desktop.

Aha! another delay to Longista! End of 2006, that’s like nearly 2007 :)
