Birmingham Tornado moved north

Friday, July 29th, 2005

Touched down again in Peterbrough “like a scene from the disaster movie Twister”. Meanwhile back in Brum : “Houses hit by a tornado in Birmingham might have to be knocked down because they are so badly damaged.” Article. Also car owners without fully comp most likey won’t get a succesful insurance cliam. One guy had brought a new car, had just got out of the car before the winds hit and how the car has no roof. I noticed a few cars in the north of the city which is where I am, with smashed wing mirrors, they were traveling away from the city centre.

Tornado Hits Birmingham, UK

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

I was driving home from work, as I got progressivly closer to Brum the roads were becoming more strewn with leaves and carrier bags. At work we had a Thunderstorm but it wasn’t as bad as that, a few family members got caught in a storm in Brum. No really it is still summertime. The patern of extreme heat followed by extreme cold that I noted even before the summer kicked in is again repeating on us and is in sync with solar explusions.

US agrees climate deal, non-Kyoto

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

So this split reminds me of Microsoft vs the W3C. A standard is setup accept a few parties disagree and splinter off into a new standard. This could seriously undermine the future of tackling climate change, an almost double standard that while Europe is under tight limits on emissions, the rest of the world remain lax and ineffective, this move could condem the developing world to using our technology as opposed to starting from their own starting point, in terms of renewable energy, they instead get our technology and nobody gains ground on the move away from fossil fuel!

So far so good but uncertain future

Pleased to report that at my last Melanoma checkup everything seemed fine, no lumps or bumps, no moles looking out of character. I’m getting used to the strip search every 3 months, it could show up anywhere so there’s nothing to hide.

So I continue with my self checks, feeling the lymph nodes under my right arm pit and the left side of my groin. Living with NED (No Evidence of Disease) is kinda tough, because I know the cancer is there, yet I can’t feel, touch, taste or otherwise know of its precence and that’s the worst part about it. Knowing that I have one of the most agressive types of cancer isn’t the killer, it’s the not knowing what cancer cells are doing in there, where they are or which places they have marked to sight see.

The diagnosis hangs over me like a thunder cloud :

Sunspot region 786 the return?

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

“Scary M-Class Solar Flare Fires as Lightning Bolt” No kidding the sun’s eastern limb (left hand side) is belching some serious gas and it looks like a bolt of lightning. 786 was bad when it left us last week, but it may have grown while on the “other side” of the sun, the side we can’t see.
See the image or play the mini movie.

Solar Rain - I’m so excited

Monday, July 25th, 2005

Again this has nothing to do with my current issues with the Sun, but since the CME from sunspot region 786 and the sunspot counts of those regions there have been a record number of named Atlantic storms, our Summer here has taken a nose dive into almost the start of Spring; Temperatures have plumeted to low to high teens, at the end of July. It could be a blip in our climate or it could be stark evidence of how solar flares affect life on Earth

Windows : rm “Longhorn” mkdir “Vista”

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

Next version of Windows is hit by fresh round of delays. “The software, until now known by its code name Longhorn, is due for release towards the end of 2006, half a decade after the launch of Windows XP”. what’s the best way for Open Source to gain an advantage on the desktop? Easy to install software and software ported to native code is needed for Linux, otherwise it’ll fail to gain useage on the desktop.

I’m not a terrorist, don’t shoot me

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

Civilian Protection Scheme (CPS) : I’m not a terrorist, don’t shoot me - So the terrorists look and dress like us, and so do the police, both groups are willing to kill us without question or reason so how do we defend ourselves peacefully? Label the back of a plain white t-shirt with the words, bold and clear, if possible give a reason for why you are out on the street on the t-shirt.

X-Class Flare near spot 786

Friday, July 15th, 2005

A CME is the technical term for what occurs when the sun spews out massive amounts of particles and energy. When these outbursts hit the Earth’s magnetic feild we get a light show, and perhaps as many are speculating, freak weather occurances, volcanic explosions and earthquakes. A massive X-Class solar flare is heading our way from sunspot region 786, and should hit us on Sunday, we should see the effects on our climate by the start of the week perhaps, more noticably there will be light shows in the night skies near the poles.
