Moving story

If ever we needed a reason to stem the rising incidence of Melanoma skin cancers (of which there are many deadly forms), this saddly is a reminder of why it’s such a worrisome cancer, why it’s such a problem and why we should take skin cancer more seriouly than we currently do.

Alex Lines, 23
“Mr and Mrs Lines, who both have uncles who developed melanoma, have called for screening for the illness to be carried out at a young age. The music student and DJ wore sun cream on holiday, used fake tan and had only been on sunbeds a handful of times.”

It is very admirable that Alex made the most of the time that was given to her two years ago when she was told about Melanoma, unfortunatly the dark side of the cancer has clamied yet another young victim. It’s very difficult to get the message out that this form of cancer is a very agressive cancer if not caught early. In Britain we have some of the worst survival rates, it can kill within months of reoccuring, meaning that people living with an all clear can’t be living with a guarantee that things will ever return to a pre-diagnosis state, which is why I found Alex so admirable, it really is hard to come to terms living with. We are wanting to prevent many people even having to read news like this, when the issue is looked at in depth it seriously is shocking. As a quarter of generation who grew up knowing they were doing the right thing with sun protection find themselves in a similar position, I think we should all be reassesing why the someone can die because of high frequency invisible light.

I got slightly burned (pink not red), after sitting under a UV light for much of an evening of comedy, backing up my theroy that I’m simply genetically alergic to invisible purple light.

If you’re a Rene Zellweger (pale skin) then please get clueded up about this even if you aren’t you should be cautious about being caught in the sun for longer than is recommened for your skin type, which could be more than or less than about 30 minutes. I just wanted to dispel a myth about hair colour, it should be seen as a demographic, because skin cancer is cancer of skin colour and not of hair colour.
